BACKGROUND: The legislature is considering a restructure of the Windstorm Insurance program in Texas. Several bills have been introduced with various ideas. Some good and some bad. The Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce is monitoring all the proposals. HB 911 and SB 14 are of grave concerns as of this writing. The wrong law could stop development, make insurance extremely expensive, cause property values to drop, and cause taxes to go up. If the wrong bill passes it could Kill the Texas Coast.
